I was 22 years old, over 50 lbs heavy, and according to some standards, morbidly obese. I was not healthy, nor was I happy with how I had let my body get to this point. As my wife and I sat looking at pictures of a recent vacation, I realized that something had to be done. Six months later, after hitting the gym religiously, and completely changing my eating habits, and my thoughts and ideas about a healthy body, I dropped over 50 lbs and my metabolism was through the roof. I am now 33 years old and in the best shape of my life. Health and fitness is now at the top of my priority list and I just cant get enough. I now work out 4-5 days a week which can include anything from weightlifting, road-biking,mountain biking, running, playing softball or flag football, and throwing frisbee.I have competed in several 5K runs and recently placed 7th in a group of around 150, in the Amarillo Mud Run. You name it, I do it.
I just recently became a certified personal trainer through the AFSA, and am looking to gain my group certification as well. Currently, along with two other trainers, (Shelby Lee and Corbyn Rains) we are instructing a 3 week, Back to School Boot Camp. Our workouts include any and everything from yoga stretching, to planking, to flipping tractor tires, to speed and agility drills, and even swinging sledge hammers. I am instructing the "caveman" portion of our workouts. I plan on making the caveman routine my specialty and hope it can give me the edge that I need to stand out as a fitness professional.
It's my hope that in the near future I can be working at this full time. I absolutely love my workouts and love to help others work to obtain their fitness goals. The sweat, and the pain, and the tears are what drives me. I know that being fit is just one of the key factors to overall wellness, and I'm just hoping to play a small role in that transformation in peoples lives. I have now been married to a wonderful woman for 13 years, and we have 3 children together, ages, 9, 7, and 3. My wife supports me 100% in my fitness goals and in my dreams of helping others become fit. My two oldest kids are now both involved in sports, so being fit and healthy is key. So much of our lives and the things that we do on a day too day basis depends on our health, so lets all get healthy.
